In this 20-40 hour game, you’ll:
- Combine cards to tell your own story in a rich, Lovecraftian world of ambition, appetite and abomination. Corrupt your friends. Consume your enemies. There is never only one history.
- Found a cult, dedicated to the Red Grail, or the Witch-and-Sister, or the Forge of Days. Recruit Believers and promote them to Disciples to serve as burglars, researchers, cat’s-paws. Use your disciples to keep you fed – or feed on your disciples.
- Unravel arcane, unacknowledged mysteries. Translate grimoires and glean their lore. Locate and pillage the Star Shattered Fane. Penetrate the realm of the Hours, and win a place in their service. Perhaps – if you are very cunning – you may even glimpse the Mansus.
- Outwit rivals, investigators and the increasingly suspicious Authorities. Your own altered Appetites may force you to act abominably, but your Cause must not be stopped.

Hey there! The crack by PLAZA isn’t working. I did everything correctly, I installed the game and copied the contents from the PLAZA folder into the install directory, ran the game in mode and even blocked it with the Firewall for good measure. I got to the main menu just fine, but upon starting a new game, an in-game prompt would appear, saying: “Error – Please update game”. After that, the game was unresponsive and I had to Alt+F4.
Any ideas? Perhaps this has something to do with all of these GOG Galaxy files scattered in the game folders. The crack apparently is only for the Steam version, right? I tried to delete them, but I kept having the same error. After that I tried editing the “version.txt” file, but that also didn’t work. I even tried to fiddle with the “steam.emu” file from the crack to see if it worked, but to no avail. Perhaps you could PLAZA to let him know his crack is malfunctioning?
Also, so far PLAZA’s torrent is the only torrent for this game that include the newest DLC, The Exile (as of 13th of June 2020). Unfortunately. The others I found were either RIPs and versions lacking the DLC. Most other sites that have this game are also using PLAZA’s torrent, so that’s annoying. Thanks in advance!
I can backup what the previous poster says, plaza crack is not working. I do not know if this helps but it was working originally, I had it installed on 3 computers, then one day it stopped working on all three computers with the same warning that there is an error and the game needs updating. It is almost like a day of the month broke it for some reason.

To fix the error being presented above, all you have to do is delete the following text file:
please_buy_our_game.txt
The text (txt) file above is located in the following installation path folder:
\Cultist Simulator The Exile\cultistsimulator_Data\StreamingAssets\edition
Your installation path will vary. An example of where mine was located is shown below.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Cultist Simulator The Exile\cultistsimulator_Data\StreamingAssets\edition
Once you delete the please_buy_our_game.txt file, the game will no longer present the error message and will function as normal. I would recommend purchasing the game to the developers, but if you follow the instructions above you should be able to play the game regardless of the means you used to obtain it.
